Mary Pranzatelli will receive the 2012 Eleanor Roosevelt Award.
The award, sponsored by the Federation of Democratic Women, will be presented at a special dinnier on Thursday May 17 to be held at Russo's Continental Resturant at 266 Union Ave, Bound Brook NJ. Reception is at 6 PM dinner 6:60 PM. Please RSVP by May 13 to Carol Brady, 9 Lee Way. Somervolle, NJ 08876. Seating is limited and the cost is $60/person.

The Pranzatelli name is recognizable throughout Somerset County. It represents a family that actively shows appreciation for their quality of life and the belief that all people should give back to their community through public service. Mary Pranzatelli has steadfastly kept with the family tradition of service. She is an active Democratic Committee Woman in Bridgewater Township, who was a candidate for town council in 2011. Mary is basically a "dyed in the wool" progressive and advocate for immigration reform. She is the proud daughter of Elizabeth and Anthony Pranzatelli Sr. who survived the Normandy invasion while serving in the United States Army during World War II. Mary's passion for politics is woven in the fiber of the family beginnig with brother Joe of Branchburg and Tony, a Bound Brook Councilman and presently a candidate for Somerset County Freeholder.
Mary is a graduate of Bridgewater High School East. She attended Middlesex County College and the Garden State Academy of Beauty Culture. She has been employed as a business manager in retail sales at Saks Fifthe Avenue and Bloomindales.
Volunteering is second nature to Mary. She assisted the Red Cross in providing disaster relief to the residents of Bound Brook after Hurricane Floyd. More recently, she rallied coworkers from Bloomingdales to join her as volunteers at the People Care Center in Bridgewater. Presently, Mary serves on the New Jersey State Board of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning. She is a member of the SCFDW and serves as Membership Chair for the SCDC. During recent campaigns, she has served as a social media reporter for "On The Loose", a program produced by Public Access Television. Mary has volunteered during the primary and presidential campaigns of Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton and Barack O'Bama. County wide she has assisted the Executive Director in all aspects of the campaign process by providing support, securing volunteers, registering voters and disseminating information through telephoning and personally visiting constituents. Mary Pranzatell continually promotes the democratic values which erncourage grass roots participation in the democratic system.
