Our Issues

Bridgewater Needs Change

1. MANAGE THE BUDGET

Bridgewater residents can’t afford another 44 percent tax increase – that’s how much the average Bridgewater property tax has increased in the past 8 years! With years of successful business experience, the Ventantonio team will cut expenses without sacrificing necessary services.

2. SAY NO TO UNNECESSARY LAWSUITS AND FINES

Bridgewater spent $17,500 in legal costs trying to defend a $5 fee for a public record. Of course, township officials didn’t reach into their pockets to pay the fine – they spent taxpayer money. How about another $100,000 for attorney fees to defend the hastily-passed zoning ordinance that restricted houses of worship? That’s a low estimate of what Bridgewater taxpayers may have to pay because township officials didn’t have a proper zoning ordinance in place. That’s no way to run a town!

3. RESTORE QUALITY OF LIFE

Bridgewater township officials aren’t taking any action to keep a dozen chemical lagoons on the American Cyanamid Superfund site from seeping into the Raritan River – even though they’re discharging carcinogenic and endocrinedisrupting benzene at levels 20,000 times greater than the EPA standard into our drinking water. Bridgewater’s infrastructure has been neglected, and some neighborhoods lack even basic curbing. The Ventantonio team will make Bridgewater’s health and safety a priority! The Township Council paid a half a million dollars from Bridgewater's Open Space Trust Fund to prevent development on his property. Then it voted to allow him to build cell-phone toweers on the land, acting on dubious legal advice from the same law firm that had represented the farmer in the initial transaction.
